PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

WELCOME TO Ngiya Girls High School! WELCOME TO THE Ngiya Girls High School WEBSITE!

Ngiya Girls High School is now a National School with effect from 2012. Elevation to the rank of a National School will reposition Ngiya Girls High School to fulfil the high demands and expectations placed Ngiya as the premier girl school in this region. Ngiya Girls High School’s new role as a National School isa major milestone in the history of this region. The School was started by Missionaries in the early part of the 20th Century with the goal of training teachers and educating girls in Home Craft and Basic education.

For the first time since the Missionaries established this school, Ngiya Girls High School now has a national outlook and a nationwide catchment. Ngiya Girls High School must not only equip the girl child with a world-class education, the school must also fulfil the demands and expectations of the families and communities throughout Kenya who will from now on entrust their children to the care of this school. Ngiya Girls High School’s Mission: to produce God-fearing, knowledgeable, responsible, self-reliant and patriotic citizens capable of serving their families, community, Country and the World diligently and with Commitment now gains a new focus and urgency for a school now serving the whole country.

As part of this new orientation, Ngiya Girls High School Website will continuously update Parents, Alumnae and continuing Students of Ngiya on the latest developments in the school.

Ngiya Girls High School must now take up this National Responsibility with all the challenges that comes with this status: modernisation of facilities, initiation of new infrastructure projects to meet the needs of the growing student population and the development of new funding sources to meet these needs.

The Ngiya Girls High School Strategic Plan 2012 - 2017 is one of the planning instruments that the school is using to meet the rising demands that Ngiya Girls High School must now meet as a National school.

Given the National Responsibility now bestowed upon Ngiya Girls High School, the school will have to acquire and equip itself with new human (teachers, support staff) and material (classroom, laboratories, optional subjects’ rooms, books and office) resources in order to fulfil its Mission.

The New Administration Complex, once completed will provide many of these urgently required facilities such as laboratories, special rooms (for French, Home Science, Music, Computer Studies etc.).

The year 2012 saw another milestone achieved for Ngiya Girls High School: the establishment of the Ngiya Alumnae association. The Alumnae Association was launched on 3rd March 2012. It was a joyous reunion for the Alumnae who came from far and wide to be at the launch of their Association. It was an honour for Ngiya Girls High School and for the Alumnae present that Bishop Wesonga offered prayers at the launch of the Ngiya Alumnae Association. The Ngiya fraternity thank Bishop Wesonga for graciously accepted to preside over the launch and prayers for the new Alumnae Association. At the launch the Alumnae held their inaugural Annual General Meeting cum Elections. Dr Mary Oyunga, Nutritionist, Scientist and Researcher of International repute was elected the inaugural Chairlady. Year Coordinators, among other appointments, were also elected to positions of responsibility within the new Alumnae Association. The Ngiya fraternity extends a hand of welcome to Dr Oyunga and her team – Daktari, welcome aboard! Ngiya Girls High School is at a critical stage in her history – with major construction work on the New Complex and the growth of the student population the school needs the input of your team and that of all the Alumnae of Ngiya Girls High School.

Ngiya Girls High School looks forward to working with the Alumnae Association and its office bearers to lift the school to greater heights of academic excellence.

To all the Website users, the Ngiya Alumnae, parents and students: Ngiya Girls High School welcomes you to its website and to the school.

Long live Ngiya – and in the words of the School Anthem

Oh God Almighty, Give us strength to build this school
Responsibly and in all fields, give us victory Lord to shine …
Oh! Viva Viva Ng’iya Viva Viva, We build on the rock x2
Red for Dangerous girls in the battle field, we build on the rock,
Blue for royalty, White for peace, we build on the rock.
